Stigma Reduction Campaign
Since the late 1990s, substance abuse in the United States has reached epidemic proportions.
More than 700,000 people have died, millions have been incarcerated, and millions more are struggling with substance abuse.
Studies by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine; The American Journal of Medicine, and the Substance Use and Mental Health Service Administration SAMHSA determined that reducing stigma is an integral part of a five-prong approach to control the epidemic.
